Dispatch Esu
Photo Installation - Ebó despacho, 2019
Cachaça Pádé, Water Pádé, Palm Pádé and Pádé honey. Earth.
Laróyè Èşù ! Esu and Mo júbà!
esu it's the first Òrìşà to be revered, the first to eat — Òrìşà is a saint who eats.
The great messenger, guardian of the Black Gods and the Sacred Space, represents the power of communication, provocative when dancing, has wisdom and mastery of the body, understands and multiplies sexuality. Phallus is male and female genitalia!
The work comprises photographs, abstract images that are traces signed in ritual, from Dispatching the Gate .
The traces demarcate the territory, announce space, faith and macumba. It is what remains after the pàdé is dispatched every beginning of the week and every time the terreiro is in operation.
The compilation of images form a panel printed in ration fabric, together with flours in bowls, a small room with water and a string of gourds, which form the installation.
During the Àjọ̀dún de Èşù 2019, at Ilè Odé oké Asè Ògòdó, the records were made after the function - which precedes the celebration in thanks to the great guardian of Egbẹ́.
In our terreiro we play and offer to Òrìşà in December, in thanksgiving for the protection and opening of paths throughout the year, it is a restricted function for the internal community. During the preparation of the offerings, a lot of dedication and hard work is required, there are 3 days of function, where we take care of the settlements, fraternize and learn by watching our elders.
The terreiro prepares for the new year, a new cycle of cults to the Yorúbà Gods that is announced, it is also a period of protection, in which the terreiro closes its doors waiting for the return of this new cycle.
